RTA Bus and Van Collide

April 10, 2012 – Cleveland, Ohio – A Regional Transit Authority (RTA) mini-bus collided with a van on Cleveland’s east side.  The bus accident occurred around 8 am on the corner of East 18th Street and St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio.  There were reports of several injuries and two individuals were taken to MetroHealth Hospital in Cleveland.  The bus-minivan accident remains under investigation and police do not know who was at fault.  The vehicle accident was reported on several news outlets, including WKYC and WEWS websites.

Teen Dies in One-Vehicle Elyria Crash

February 28, 2012 – Elyria, Ohio – A 16-year old girl died in a one-car accident in Elyria Township on February 27, 2012.  The vehicle was driving four teenagers when it was involved in a one-car crash between State Route 57 and Middle Ridge Road.    The accident occurred around 6 p.m.  The cause of the crash remains under investigation.  It appeared that the 17-year old driver lost control of her car while driving west on Route 2 between State Route 57 and Middle Ridge Road.  The car veered off the road and struck a tree. There were four passengers, all were injured in the accident. Channel Five News has reported the accident also caused the death of a 16-year old girl.

Two Drivers Die in Head On Collision

February 24, 2012 – Akron, Ohio – Two men died in a head-on vehicle accident in Akron, Ohio near the intersection of West Wilberth Road and Ninth Street.  The accident occurred around 9 p.m. There were two cars involved in the accident, a Chevrolet Caprice and a Ford Bronco.  One of the vehicles went left of center, which caused the dramatic collision to occur.  The impact was so great that the Caprice’s bumper impaled the side of the Ford Bronco.  The Caprice was driven by a 34-year old man and there was a 24-year old passenger in the vehicle as well. The driver of the Ford Bronco was a 39-year old man.  Both drivers died from their injuries. Channel Five News has video of the aftermath of the collision.

68-Year-Old Man Dies in Head-on Crash

 February 16, 2012 – Streetsboro, Ohio – A 68-year old man was killed when his vehicle went left-of-center on Route 14 in Streetsboro.  The man struck a 2011 Kia driven by a 29-year-old woman.  The force of the crash caused severe injuries to both drivers.  Police are not sure why the man crossed over into oncoming traffic. The woman was taken to Akron General Hospital, where she remained hospitalized for several days.  The 68-year-old man was transported to Akron City Hospital, but ultimately died from his injuries.

Three Injured in Head On Crash in Lorain, Ohio

Lorain, Ohio – February 14, 2012 – Three people were injured in a head-on collision in Lorain, Ohio.  There were two cars involved in the accident, a green Mitsubishi and red Kia.  The green Mitsubishi went left of center and struck the red Kia.  The Kia was driven by a 56-year old woman and her granddaughter was a passenger.  The driver of the Mitsubishi was also injured in the crash.  The news story regarding this accident is available here.  All three passengers were taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center.

Driver Hits 4 Parked Cars While Texting

February 8, 2012 – Cleveland, Ohio –  A man driving a vehicle on Cedar Avenue struck four parked cars.  The driver was texting at the time of the accident.  Significant damage was caused to all of the vehicles involved.  The accident occurred at approximately 2:00 am.  An article posted on WEWS Channel 5 does not identify the driver at fault, but states he made a statement to witnesses that he was texting at the time he hit the parked cars.  The accident remains under investigation.

Two Seriously Injured in Jeep Wrangler Crash

January 27, 2011 – Springfield Township, Ohio – A Jeep Wrangler was involved in a one-car vehicle accident in Springfield Township, Ohio.  The vehicle accident caused serious injuries to the two 23-year old occupants.  The male driver and female passenger were both ejected from the Jeep when it crashed.   According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Jeep was rounding a curve when it struck a guard-rail and went off the road.  Both the driver and passenger were taken to the hospital for their serious and potentially life threatening injuries.  Officers believed alcohol played a part in the single vehicle accident.

Man Killed by Wrong Way Driver on I-76

Wadsworth Township, Ohio – January 24, 2011 – A 57-year-old man died in a car accident on Monday when the car he was driving was struck by a 22-year-old man driving the wrong direction on I-76 in Medina County.  The car accident occurred on January 23, 2012 around 7 pm.  The vehicle accident remains under investigation.  Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating why the 22-year-old driver was driving the wrong direction, but there are no answers at this time.  The news story regarding this accident is available here.
