About Dan Ryan
Daniel J. Ryan is the founding attorney of Ryan Injury Attorneys in Cleveland, Ohio. With over 50 years of experience in litigation, Dan is well-known throughout Northern Ohio for his success in civil trial work. He has completed several hundred trials and obtained numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for his clients, providing the same focus and determination to every case regardless of size.
Dan is admitted to practice before the State of Ohio courts, the United States Federal Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
Career Highlights
Dan began his legal career in 1973 at the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, where he served until 1979. From 1979 until 2001, he worked as the North Olmsted Assistant Law Director and Prosecutor while simultaneously operating a civil law practice focused on wrongful death, medical malpractice, and general negligence.
Prior to law school, Dan worked as a Systems Analyst for Ohio Bell Corporation, managing software and computer systems on IBM mainframe computers. While attending law school, he served as a District Manager at Ohio Bell, overseeing approximately 50 employees in the software management department. That analytical foundation continues to inform his methodical approach to complex litigation.
Notable Case Results
Medical Malpractice — Brachial Plexus Injury
Disputed liability case that went to trial with seven experts. The hospital refused to make any offer. The jury found that the injury was caused by hospital staff and awarded substantial damages for the permanent injury.
Medical Malpractice — Failure to Diagnose
Investigation revealed a surgeon practicing while under the influence of narcotics. Critical lab values became life-threatening and the patient’s heart condition went undiagnosed, leading to an untimely death. Resolved before trial.
Wrongful Death — Construction Accident
Worker killed due to safety violations on a construction site. Dan recovered compensation for the worker’s family after establishing the contractor’s negligence.
Financial Loss — Unfair Debt Collection
Client was a victim of unfair debt collection practices, fraud, and abuse of the legal system. Successfully pursued claims on the client’s behalf.
Public Service
From 2004 until 2008, Dan served as a North Olmsted City Councilman. He also served on the North Olmsted Planning Commission and other municipal boards. His commitment to public service reflects the same dedication he brings to representing clients in the courtroom.
