February 8, 2012 – Cleveland, Ohio – A man driving a vehicle on Cedar Avenue struck four parked cars. The driver was texting at the time of the accident. Significant damage was caused to all of the vehicles involved. The accident occurred at approximately 2:00 am. An article posted on WEWS Channel 5 does not identify the driver at fault, but states he made a statement to witnesses that he was texting at the time he hit the parked cars. The accident remains under investigation.

February 3, 2012 – Parma Heights, Ohio – A 77-year old Parma Heights woman was killed when she was struck by a car while he was crossing Pearl Road. The accident occurred at approximately 6:30 am while the woman was on her way to work. She was attempting to catch a bus at the time she was struck. According to WKYC, the woman was unable to recover from her head injuries and died at the hospital. The 61-year old driver of the car was taken to the police station for further questioning. The accident remains under investigation.

February 1, 2012 – Kent, Ohio – An 88-year old man was struck by a vehicle while walking outside his home. The accident occurred around 10 p.m. in Kent, Ohio. The victim was walking near his home and attempting to cross the street when he was struck by a passing Volkswagen. The victim was transported to Akron City Hospital by ambulance. The victim could not recover from his injuries, which ultimately caused his death.

January 27, 2011 – Springfield Township, Ohio – A Jeep Wrangler was involved in a one-car vehicle accident in Springfield Township, Ohio. The vehicle accident caused serious injuries to the two 23-year old occupants. The male driver and female passenger were both ejected from the Jeep when it crashed. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Jeep was rounding a curve when it struck a guard-rail and went off the road. Both the driver and passenger were taken to the hospital for their serious and potentially life threatening injuries. Officers believed alcohol played a part in the single vehicle accident.

Lyndhurst, Ohio – January 28, 2012 – A 50-year old Lyndhurst man was killed when he was struck by a car while he was crossing Brainard Road. According to the Plain Dealer, the man was unable to recover from his head injuries. The driver of the car was not cited, but the accident remains under investigation.

January 24, 2012 – Cleveland, Ohio – Two men died after a building they were working in collapsed on them. NewsChannel 5 reports that the building was under renovation. The workers were cutting down beams on the second floor when the beams fell in an unexpected direction, causing the injuries. The Plain Dealer reports the workers were on their first day of the job. The building was previously used to mix brick and mortar.

Wadsworth Township, Ohio – January 24, 2011 – A 57-year-old man died in a car accident on Monday when the car he was driving was struck by a 22-year-old man driving the wrong direction on I-76 in Medina County. The car accident occurred on January 23, 2012 around 7 pm. The vehicle accident remains under investigation. Olmsted Falls, Ohio – January 17, 2011 – An 80-year old woman was arraigned on the hit-skip accident which caused the death of a teenager in Olmsted Falls, Ohio. The woman pleaded not guilty and the matter has been set before Judge Hollie Gallagher.
The accident occurred on October 17, 2011. The teenager was struck by a car while walking along Cook Road in Olmsted Township. The teenager was out with friends delivering invitations to his 13th birthday party. The teenager died the next day, which was also his birthday. After the accident, the driver left the scene. A few days after the accident, the driver took her car to a body shop to get repaired, but insisted she did not want to file a police report or get insurance involved. This led to the police arresting the 80-year old woman and charging her with aggravated vehicular homicide, failure to stop after an accident, and tampering with evidence.
